Resume

He graduated from Hunan Agricultural College in July 1982 with a bachelor's degree in plant genetics, Fujian Agricultural College in July 1985 with a master's degree in plant genetics, and International Rice Research Institute in June 1992 with a doctoral degree. After graduation, he worked at A&M University, University of California, Singapore Institute of Molecular Agriculture and Ohio State University.

Projects

Numerous national scientific research projects such as "973", "863", "948" and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, also supported by the Natural Science Foundation of the United States, the Department of Agriculture of the United States, the Rockefeller Foundation and the DuPont Science Foundation for more than 3 million US dollars.

Papers and Works

Dr. Wang Guoliang has made outstanding achievements in molecular markers of disease resistance and cloning of disease resistance genes in rice-the first gene Xa21 in rice has been cloned internationally and related research has been published in the famous scientific journal Science. This gene has been applied in rice breeding practice in many countries and regions. In addition, the first MAPK gene of rice, BWMK1, was cloned, and the programmed apoptotic genes Spl11 and RANK1 were cloned. For the first time, U-box and ARM repeat sequences were found to be related to cell death and defense signal response.Pi2 and Pi9 genes were cloned for the first time in the world, which laid an important foundation for elucidating the molecular mechanism of plant disease resistance signal transduction and broad-spectrum resistance. At the same time, Wang is the main contributor to the establishment of BAC and TAC libraries, and also the first international research on rice disease resistance genome and has won 6 international patents. More than 40 SCI papers have been published in SCI source journals such as Science, the Plant Cell, Plant Physiology and Plant Journal by the first author or correspondent. The main papers have been cited more than 1200 times by SCI. He has been invited to make more than 50 reports in international academic conferences.

In 2000, he was awarded the DuPont Young Scientist Award by the National Overseas Young Scholars Cooperation Research Fund of China
