Xiao received his PhD in Botany in 1994 from Hunan Agricultural University, China. He worked as a post doctoral fellow from 1995-1998 at the University of California at Riverside, USA. | |||

Xiao has presided over more than 20 scientific research projects at the national or provincial level, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. he has extensive experience in the field plant growth and development phytohormones and plant growth regulators.
