School of Landscape Architecture and Art Design
General Information |
The College of Landscape Architecture and Art Design was established in October 2019, based on the disciplines from the former School of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, School of Resources and Environment, and School of Sports and Arts of Hunan Agricultural University. |
The college has six undergraduate programs: Landscape Architecture, Garden Design, Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design, Product Design, and Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning. There are 86 faculty and staff members, including 6 professors, 20 associate professors, 11 teachers with doctoral degrees, 5 doctoral supervisors, and 20 master's supervisors. There are 1460 undergraduate students, 183 postgraduate students. Over the past 35 years, the college has trained nearly 3,000 full-time undergraduate and college students and more than 500 postgraduate students, making significant contributions to the cultivation of discipline talents and the construction of human habitat environments. |
The college has undertaken a double master's degree program in Landscape Architecture with the University of Wroclaw in Poland, 97 students have been graduated through the program. |
The college has developed several SPOC courses and achieved more than 40 awards in various teaching competitions, including 3 national awards and 8 provincial first prizes. Additionally, the students have won more than 200 awards in discipline competitions |

1. 3 provincial-level teaching and research platforms (Hunan Key Laboratory of Landscape Ecology and Planning Design,2021); 2. 3 university-level teaching and research platforms; 3. a 20-mu on-campus teaching and practical base for landscape architecture; 4. a 20-mu teaching base for landscape plants 5. 11 specialized classrooms for landscape architecture; 6. 2 exhibition spaces; 7. Equipped with instruments and equipment for field measurement, component analysis, and model construction, with a total value of about 2.38 million Yuan. 8. 4 off-campus landscape training bases. |
Scientific Research and Social Services |
The college actively engages in scientific research and social services in the fields of rural landscape design, rural human habitat environment design, upgrading of advantageous industrial brands, ecological tourism business planning and design, cultural derivative products, and rural human geography and planning. |
This discipline has undertaken 12 provincial and ministerial research projects, with research fund of approximately 492,500 Yuan. It has won 7 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological awards, obtained 2 invention patent rights, published 75 research papers, including 9 papers indexed by SCI、EI and 9 papers in core journals, and published 1 book. It has applied for 13 patents and won 1 provincial science and technology progressing award. It has successively undertaken various levels of rural landscape design, industrial planning, agricultural product brand planning and design, and art poverty alleviation projects. |
