School of Resources
General Information |
The School of Resources (SR) was officially established in 2022, which can be traced back to the Soil and Agricultural Chemistry of Hunan Agricultural College in 1951. |
SR has 62 faculty members, including 13 professors, 15 associate professors, 14 doctoral supervisors, and 37 master’s supervisors. Among them, there is 1 chief scientist of the National Key Research and Development Program, 2 post scientists in the National Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System, 1 leading talent for Hunan scientific and technological innovation, 1 scholar of the Hundred Talents Program for Foreign Experts, 2 recipients of the “Furong Scholars Incentive Program” of Hunan Province, 2 recipients of “Shennong Scholars Program”, 1 young talent in scientific and technological innovation of Hunan, 2 outstanding young talents in scientific and technological innovation in Changsha, 1 recipient of the Youth Science and Technology Award in Hunan Province, 2 members of the “Hunan 121 Talent Project”, 6 recipients of the Youth Backbone Teachers in Hunan Province, 1 outstanding talent of Hunan Agricultural University, and 2 innovation teams of “1515” young talents at the university level. Over 86% of the full-time teachers are doctoral degree holders, and over 40% have conducted overseas studies and visiting. 23 of the faculty members serve as chairpersons, supervisors, vice chairpersons, executive council members, secretaries-general, and directors of specialized committees in national and provincial academic societies. The school has 4 basic teaching organizations: 1) Soil Science, 2) Plant Nutrition, 3) Land Resources Management, 4) Surveying and Mapping Information. |
SR has two laboratories of agricultural resource utilization and agricultural environmental protection respectively, co-constructed by the central and local governments. The school also boasts provincial demonstration center for practice of teaching of environment and resources, a soil and rock specimen museum with a collection of over 2000 items, and a fertilizer specimen museum. The laboratory of the school covers an area of 4,500 square meters with equipment worth 41.7 million Yuan. SR also has a large modern potted plant experimental base of 10,000 square meters and a long-term positioning experimental base of 10,000 square meters. Eight experimental demonstration bases for rice, rapeseed, fruits, and vegetables have been established in cities such as Changsha, Changde, Yiyang, Hengyang, and Yueyang. |
SR has conducted extensive and profound international exchange and cooperation to promote its development The school has established comprehensive and in-depth cooperative relationships in scientific research and talent training with international research institutions such as the International Rice Research Institute, the University of Missouri in the United States, the University of the Philippines, the University of Göttingen in Germany, and the Rothamsted Experimental Station in the United Kingdom. In the past five years, 5 international students have been enrolled, more than 20 teachers and students have been sent abroad for academic visits, and more than 180 foreign scholars have been received for exchanges and visits. |
The education system for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees (including postdoctoral program) is well-established, with a current enrollment of 687 undergraduates and 287 postgraduate students. |
