Cameroon Student Chuke: Learning to Be a Modern African Farmer

Hunan News

Chu Ke, a 24-year-old African student from Cameroon, came to Hunan Agricultural University in China to learn how to master the equipment and technology of modern agriculture and become a modern African farmer.

At 40 degrees of room temperature, Sweaty Chu Ke is working on graduate practical project: improved rapeseed drying equipment. After months of hard work, the performance of the equipment has greatly improved.

Chu Ke said that the damage rate of rapeseed was reduced from 80% to 20%, and the drying time was less.

After graduating from Cameroon as an undergraduate, Chu Ke has been studying in China for one and a half years. Not only can he speak fluent Chinese, but he also learns to operate more than 20 kinds of agricultural equipment. He felt that these technologies were particularly useful for Cameroon.

" There are machinery in our country. If we want to use it, we must invite Chinese people to teach us to use it, but in China, I have learned some." Chu Ke said, "In recent years, many agricultural enterprises in China have brought advanced technology and equipment to Cameroon to help them increase crop yields. Now there are also many kinds of rice. Some Chinese people come to help us grow rice. The yield of rice is increasing, the price is lower and the quality is better. "

In the remaining year and a half, Chu Ke will also study agricultural software and mechanical application in Hunan Agricultural University. He hopes to become a qualified modern farmer and return home.
